Since the beginning of 2007 the Samboja Lodge is open to interested visitors. There are numerous single and double bedrooms as well as four luxury apartments in the lodge. The profits go back entirely to the reforestation project! The roomy lodge is financed by the Gibbon-Foundation. Visitors can take part in the realisation of the successful reforestation project or locate their square metres, the growing rainforest can be experienced very close up. Since our collective project is based on the integration and acceptance of the local population, the new jobs provided there play a very important role for the development of the sanctuary. A lot of new jobs were created: on the one hand in the lodge itself, for employees in the kitchen, laundry, reception, cleaning and security department; and on the other hand in general, due to an increasing number of tourists. Tour guides and assistants who take care of groups, drivers and mechanics, craftsmen, paramedics and many more are needed.
